That’s Entertainment! A celebration of classic MGM film musicals
with Gary Williams & Kim Criswell
Throughout the 1940’s and 50’s the MGM studios at Culver City, California produced a series of musicals which revolutionised the entertainment world. Producer Arthur Freed, with his stable of contract stars that included Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Cyd Charise and Frank Sinatra worked in collaboration with MGM’s formidable music department to create some of the silver screen’s most memorable moments. John Wilson has painstakingly reconstructed the original orchestrations of the most celebrated numbers from such films as High Society, Singin’ In The Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, An American in Paris and Gigi, to name only a few.
